Creating from scratch and adapting provide their own individual challenges. The latter, if the case of bringing real-world objects into a digital design design space of sorts, is a curious endeavor, especially in print. It’s underutilized and sometimes used poorly, but when done well with data viz, it proves to be one of the best offerings in the design world. In the #25 and #26 issues of Elephant Magazine, the contemporary art and visual culture quarterly focused on women in the art business and Silicon Valley for and against creativity respectively. The vibrant issues featured art direction by Atlas, photos by Matteo Cremonini, and styling by LaTigre. In them, props were used to reflect the work of the artists as they related to the topics.

The work is bright without ostentatiousness, intriguing without abstraction, modish without pretentiousness. In short, it looks cool as hell.
